Sendai.

Architecture meets interior design.

Scopri

Sendai Bookstore

The Sendai bookcase-sculpture contains the design essence of the Sendai mediateque in Japan, also designed by the architect Toyo Ito.
A piece of furniture that strikes and disrupts any concept of design, a true work of art. The common elements are the irregular columns, which create the illusion of extreme lightness and fragility. The flexibility and movement of the uprights contrast with shelves with a strong visual impact.

Sendai consists of six shelves, its structure is made of solid alder wood and Canaletto walnut, with wooden shelves covered in polished aluminium. The Crystal version introduces tempered glass for the shelves. This choice of design allows light to reflect, creating a play of movement and enhancing the geometry and volumes of the cabinet.

Toyo Ito's projects are inspired by nature, «air, water and wind». To him, architecture «is not a tool» but «a meeting place for people's feelings».
